Karen Wiwchar is a corporate, commercial, and securities lawyer in our Calgary and Canmore offices. A native Calgarian with family roots in Saskatchewan, Karen’s legal journey began at the University of Saskatchewan.

Karen spent the first twenty-plus years of her legal practice in Calgary, in the corporate finance / securities / business law group of a national law firm. This was followed by fifteen years or so in-house, including executive and legal leadership positions at national and global companies in the retail and technology sectors. Her in-house experience provided valuable insight into business operations and governance, complemented by leadership roles with the Association of Corporate Counsel (Alberta chapter) and Alberta General Counsel Association.

In 2021, Karen returned to private practice and joined Don at Blackett Law. Now part of Field Law, she enjoys applying her broad legal knowledge to support businesses and individuals in Canmore, Banff, and the Bow Valley as well as in Calgary.

Outside the Office

Karen enjoys spending time with her friends and family, both in Calgary and in Saskatchewan, and connecting with the community.  She and her husband are avid travelers.
