Tracy Zimmer practices in the areas of professional regulation and labour and employment. Notably, she is interested in how these areas of law have a considerable and tangible impact on the everyday lives of the public.
Tracy has experience acting as general counsel and independent counsel for professional regulators as well as working with employers and employees in labour and employment matters. She has appeared before various tribunals in a prosecutorial role, as well as appeared before the Alberta Court of King's Bench and Alberta Court of Appeal. Tracy is a member of both the Alberta and the Northwest Territories bars and has also assisted clients in Nunavut.
Value to Clients
Prior to law school, Tracy worked in marketing and business development. Her experiences taught her how to collaborate with her clients, focus on their expectations, and communicate effectively to meet their needs and ensure she is providing them with creative problem-solving solutions.
Tracy believes that effective advocacy does not necessarily require confrontation. Although in some situations it may be required, resolution is often better achieved through other means such as effective communication, knowledge and understanding of the issues and subject matter, and integrity in dealing with others.
Ultimately, Tracy's goal is to assist others to ensure that the integral intersection between the public and the law continues to be fair and balanced.
Outside the Office
When Tracy is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and cuddling with her fur babies while reading a good book. She also enjoys trying a new restaurant each month with friends and attending the different events that Edmonton has to offer.
