With a focus on business and tax law, Melissa Guenette is a lawyer in our Calgary office. Originally from Calgary, Melissa attended the University of Victoria where she completed her Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in International Business before obtaining her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Ottawa in 2021.
Melissa's journey with Field Law began as a summer intern in 2019, working within the Business law group. This early exposure to the practical aspects of law allowed her to develop a keen understanding of client needs and the importance of meticulous attention to detail. After returning to Field Law as an Articling Student in 2022, Melissa was called to the Alberta Bar in 2022.
Her work includes assisting with corporate reorganizations, merger and acquisition transactions, and a variety of other business-related legal matters. Melissa's experience covers a broad spectrum, including unanimous shareholder agreements, incorporations, corporate restructuring, corporate tax planning and reorganizations, tax-deferred transfers, and handling trust matters. She has also worked on share and asset purchase agreements in diverse industries, including veterinary clinics and franchises.
Currently, Melissa is enhancing her technical knowledge by enrolling in the In-Depth Tax Program by Chartered Professional Accountants (Canada). Known for her meticulous attention to detail and a client-centric approach, Melissa is dedicated to delivering top-notch legal services. She focuses on aligning her legal solutions with the unique needs of each client, ensuring compliance, and fostering long-term success.

Outside the Office
Outside the office, Melissa enjoys learning new instruments and perfecting her pastry recipes. She competed as a provincially ranked badminton player growing up and continues to play badminton, golf, and basketball, today. Whether it comes to sports or board games, Melissa is always up for fun and friendly competition.
