Paralegal, Corporate Services - Calgary

Our Calgary office is looking for a paralegal in our Corporate Services department. Reporting to the Team Lead, Corporate Services, this is a role where you will work with several of our firm’s team members and will be responsible for completing a variety of corporate transactions, including but not limited to incorporations, amendments, share transactions, amalgamations, director and officer changes, and performing due diligence searches.

Duties + Responsibilities
- Incorporate and organize Alberta and Federal corporations
- Assist lawyers with amalgamations, reorganizations, and amendments
- Registration of, and preparing and filing amendments for, Limited Partnerships and Limited Liability Partnerships
- Preparation of various corporate and tax resolutions and supporting documents
- Minute book reviews
- Entering entities in a corporate database
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- A high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail while attending to repetitive tasks
Qualifications + Skills
- Completion of a paralegal diploma or certificate with a minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a corporate paralegal
- Experience in all aspects of corporate work and CORES Level II or III accreditation required
- Experience with ALF, and APPRES accreditation preferred
- Advanced computer skills, specifically with PDF and MS Word
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate activities in a timely manner

Our Edmonton office has an immediate opening for a full-time Office Services Clerk. The Office Services clerk is an essential role in assisting Fielders in their day-to-day work.
You understand the importance of confidentiality in a professional setting and have a great attention to detail. You have exceptional client service skills, are organized, and able to focus on the task at hand. Your ability to prioritize assists you in meeting deadlines and responding in a timely manner. Duties + Responsibilities
Administrative Tasks:
- Handling incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries.
- Distribute incoming mail and deliveries to appropriate recipients.
- Run high volume copy machines.
- Perform jobs/projects that may require tight deadlines with accuracy.
- Handle highly sensitive and confidential documents.
General Office Support:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of common areas.
- Assisting with basic troubleshooting (e.g., printer issues).
- Ensure copiers are working properly (ex: Clears paper jams and inform technicians of specific problems).
- Upkeep of copier rooms by keeping them neat and well stocked.
Inventory Management:
- Regularly monitoring office supply levels to prevent shortages or excess and ordering as needed.
- Organize and restock supplies.
Reception Coverage and Customer Service:
- Operating the reception desk and handling calls.
- Greet and welcome visitors, creating a friendly and professional first impression.
- Answering phone calls, taking messages, and transferring calls.
- Assisting with general inquiries from clients or colleagues.
Hospitality:
- Arrange meeting rooms, beverages, and catering for internal events.
- Preparing, cleaning, and sanitizing of boardrooms/offices.
- Boardroom management – inventory, cleanliness, etc.
- Reconciling hospitality invoices and submitting invoices to billing.
Qualifications + Skills
- 2+ years of experience in Office Services or related field.
- 2+ years of experience working in a law firm or similar professional setting.
- Excellent at providing client service.
- Strong attention to detail.

Paralegal, Real Estate Services - Calgary

Our Calgary office is looking for a Paralegal to join our Real Estate team. This position will report directly to the Team Lead, Real Estate Services, this is a role where you are responsible for all aspects of real estate transactions. The ideal candidate is proactive, self-sufficient, has high attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.

Duties + Responsibilities
- Use word processing, spreadsheet, database to prepare correspondence and legal documents in support of Real Estate transactions.
- Answer the telephone, schedule appointments and meetings, greet visitors and handle administrative and business details.
- Review Real Estate and Financing Contracts for pertinent information such as closing requirements and managing important dates.
- Review conflict searches and coordinate file openings.
- Perform due diligence searches such as PPSA, Land Titles, Bankruptcy, Court House and Corporation Registry with the ability to review the same and provide summary to responsible lawyers.
- Draft, prepare and organize documents required to complete residential and purchase transactions and financing transactions.
- Comprehensive review of lender instructions to determine funding requirements and the ability to draft security documents.
- Handle all Land Titles Office, and Personal Property Registry registrations and filings.
- Maintain efficient file system and have strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with clients, lenders, counsel and realtors independently.
- Handle trust fund deposits in accordance with our firm’s trust policy, cheque requests, time entry and billing.
- Builder and Private Lender transactions
- Additional duties as assigned by the team lead or lawyer
Qualifications + Skills
- 5-10 years of real estate experience, preferably in a paralegal role
- Recognized 2-year Legal Assistant or Paralegal Diploma
- Eager to grow and learn
- Pro-active and self-sufficient
