We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Anne Côté on September 18, a remarkable legal mind and cherished former partner at Field Law. Called to the Alberta Bar in 2002, Anne dedicated many years to the practice of law, concentrating her work in privacy, labour and employment, and administrative law. Her career was distinguished by her unwavering commitment to justice and her ability to navigate some of the most complex legal landscapes in Canada.
Anne was a trusted advocate, representing individuals, corporations, and institutions before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Her work in privacy and labour law made her a sought-after adviser and speaker, and she regularly organized and presented at key seminars and conferences. She was also a legal adviser to several post-secondary institutions, guiding them on issues of privacy, governance, labour, and administrative procedures. Her leadership in the legal community was recognized with the prestigious IAPP Award in 2017 for her contributions to privacy law in Alberta and Canada.
Anne will be remembered not only for her sharp intellect and dedication, but for her compassion and the relationships she built with clients, colleagues, and the wider legal community. Her legacy will endure in the many lives she touched.
