Doug Nishimura is a partner practicing in litigation, with a main focus on formal insolvency and financial restructuring proceedings such as bankruptcy, receivership, CCAA actions, enforcement of security, recovery of debt, protection from creditors, negotiation of forbearance and informal restructuring processes, purchases of assets in insolvency proceedings and identification and resolution of problem areas in secured transactions such as priority disputes, preference claims, trusts, fiduciary obligations, and claims and fraud actions.

After graduating in 1995 as the Gold Medalist at the University of Calgary, Doug's legal career began as a law clerk for the Honourable Justice Jack Major at the Supreme Court of Canada.

He has experience in representation of corporate debtors, large and small financial institution and secured lenders, unsecured creditors on an individual and collective basis, shareholders of insolvent corporations, trustees, monitors, receivers and other court appointed officers, and counterparties of insolvent corporations. Further notable work includes investor actions, fraud investigation and recovery, injunctions and corporate and commercial dispute resolution.
