Whose Lane Is It Anyway?
Roundtable

Join Field Law’s Professional Regulatory Group and your professional regulatory colleagues for our spring roundtable.

Professional regulatory bodies, whether small or large, are complex organizations with mandates to govern professions in the public interest. Doing so requires coordination and consistency. At the same time, regulators have statutory decision-makers with specific roles. These decision-makers must be able to exercise their discretion independently and avoid any appearance of bias. Regulators and their staff, council members, and hearing tribunal and committee members sometimes encounter challenges when trying to stay in their own lane while still moving towards the same regulatory goals.

Join your professional regulatory colleagues to discuss these challenges, including:

  • The risks of sharing too much information versus not sharing enough
  • Managing privacy concerns while promoting effective collaboration across your organization
  • Setting policy that encourages consistent approaches to common issues without fettering the discretion of statutory decision-makers

Who should attend? This roundtable is designed for staff of professional regulatory organizations of all sizes.
